🧊 Pune Sees Sharp Dip in Temperature – Coldest Night of the Season
Pune experienced a significant drop in temperature on Monday, marking the onset of winter across the region. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 13.2°C, the lowest so far this season, and below the average for this time of the year.
Several parts of urban Pune and surrounding rural areas also felt the chill, with temperatures in some pockets dipping to around 11°C.
🌬️ Jalgaon Hits Single-Digit Temperature for the First Time This Winter
In north Maharashtra, Jalgaon made headlines by reporting its first-ever single-digit temperature of 9.6°C on November 10 — six degrees below normal. According to weather experts, such conditions indicate the beginning of cold wave trends, although two consecutive days of single-digit readings are required to officially declare a cold wave.
For the past three days, Jalgaon has consistently recorded temperatures around 10°C, making it one of the coldest districts in Maharashtra this season.
❄️ Cooler Conditions Spread Across Maharashtra
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a steady decline in minimum temperatures across several parts of Maharashtra, including Vidarbha, Nashik, and Mahabaleshwar.
The popular hill station Mahabaleshwar recorded a minimum temperature of 12.3°C, while districts in Vidarbha saw a drop of one to two degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD, cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Vidarbha over the next 2–3 days, as cooler northerly winds continue to flow across the state.
🌫️ IMD: Cool Northerly Winds Driving Temperature Drop
S. D. Sanap, Senior Meteorologist at IMD Pune, explained:
“Currently, there is no strong weather system over Maharashtra. The reduction in humidity and cold winds from the north are responsible for the temperature drop across several districts. A cold wave alert has been issued for parts of Vidarbha.”
He also mentioned that Pune will likely experience dry and cool weather for the next three to four days, with minimum temperatures staying low.
