During a recent trip, I decided to park at Mumbai Airport T2, having previously had a positive experience at T1. While T1 offers both open-air premium parking near the terminal and a multi-level car park (MLCP) about 200 meters away, T2’s parking is fully in an MLCP building with premium and normal options available.

Pre-Booking and Payment

I pre-booked a slot for seven days, paying ₹2,700 for normal or premium parking (valet was ₹2,850). The booking email clearly outlined which lanes to use and warned against using Fastag lanes, as payments deducted automatically would not be refunded.

At the T2 entrance, all lanes had Fastag readers, and the “Pre-booking entry” lanes did not match the instructions. Unlike T1, where the QR code is scanned at entry, the T2 attendant instructed me to enter without scanning, creating confusion.

Parking and Navigation

The MLCP has multiple levels, and signage for premium parking is limited. Based on online suggestions, we parked on Level 9, which is typically less crowded. The MLCP has lifts at both ends, so it’s important to note your parking location to avoid long walks when entering or exiting the terminal.

Exit Experience

At exit, I was concerned that Fastag might deduct money automatically, so I ensured the attendant scanned the pre-booked QR code before leaving. The staff was initially rude and reluctant, but I insisted, and the barrier lifted after the scan.

Final Thoughts

Despite some administrative confusion and inconsistent procedures, the parking itself was safe and hassle-free. T2 parking works well for travelers who are aware of the system quirks and plan accordingly.
