As tensions rise between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a high-level security meeting in Mumbai to review the state’s emergency preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

The meeting included top officials from the police, municipal bodies, disaster management teams, and state departments. The Chief Minister assured that Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, is on high alert, and security drills are being regularly conducted. He confirmed that the police, Coast Guard, and Navy are actively coordinating, with all SOPs in place.

  • Cyber cells in every district will monitor social media for fake news and hostile content.
  • Strict action will be taken against those spreading misinformation or supporting anti-national narratives.
  • Immediate cyber audits have been ordered for critical systems like power grids and water supply.

Rapid Decision-Making & Resource Allocation:

To avoid delays in emergencies:

  • Emergency funds have been released to district collectors.
  • All urgent security proposals will be approved within one hour.

Coastal and Drone Surveillance:

  • Plans include hiring private fishing boats to increase coastal patrolling.
  • Anti-drone systems are being considered to handle drone threats.
  • Preparedness for medical emergencies and evacuations is a key focus.

Deputy CM’s Remarks:

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized the protection of key assets like oil depots, ports, rail hubs, Atal Setu, and JNPT. He also:

  • Urged people not to share military photos or videos online.
  • Warned against fake news, urging reliance on official sources.
  • Confirmed that the armed forces are targeting terrorist sites, while Pakistan is putting civilians at risk.

Administrative Readiness:

  • Leaves have been cancelled for senior officers in health and disaster management.
  • A follow-up meeting will include top leaders from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard to improve coordination.
